Problems with the Website

If you are having trouble accessing any part of our website there could be three main areas which are causing you problems. The below information has been prepared to assist you in checking your computer is configured in a way that will allow you to access the Volkswagen UK website:

Browser

The website has been optimised for the following browsers:

Windows
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or above
  • Mozilla Firefox 2 or above
Mac
  • Apple Safari 2 or above
  • Mozilla Firefox 2 or above

You may experience problems in other browsers.

Adobe Flash Player

You must also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player 9 or above.

JavaScript

This allows you to use some of the exciting functionality on our site and to do so you need to make sure it is enabled. You'll find instructions for turning on JavaScript in the most common browsers below:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6
  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Internet Options' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Click 'Custom Level'
  5. Scroll down till you find the 'Scripting' section
  6. Make sure 'Enable' is selected under 'Active Scripting'
  7. Click 'OK'
  8. Refresh the page
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7
  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Internet Options' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Click 'Custom Level'
  5. Scroll down till you find the 'Scripting' section
  6. Make sure 'Enable' is selected under 'Active Scripting'
  7. Make sure 'Enable' is selected under 'Scripting of Java Applets'
  8. Click 'OK'
  9. Refresh the page
Mozilla Firefox 2
  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Options' from the list
  3. Select the 'Content' tab
  4. Make sure 'Enable JavaScript' is checked
  5. Click 'OK'
  6. Refresh the page
Apple Safari 2
  1. Go to the 'Edit' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Preferences' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Make sure 'Enable JavaScript' is checked
  5. Click the 'X' to close the window
  6. Refresh the page
Apple Safari 3
  1. Go to the 'Edit' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Preferences' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Make sure 'Enable JavaScript' is checked
  5. Click the 'X' to close the window
  6. Refresh the page

Cookies

If you have tried to use the 'Book a Test Drive', 'Order a Brochure' or 'My Volkswagen' sections and had difficulties it may have been because you have disabled Cookies in your browser settings.

A Cookie lets us temporarily store the information you enter into the forms so that it all gets sent and nothing gets lost. This information is only stored whilst you are filling in the form and is then securely sent once everything has been completed.

  3. Select the 'Privacy' tab
  4. Click the 'Default' button or slide the bar down to 'Medium'
  5. Click 'OK'
  6. Refresh the page

  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Internet Options' from the list
  3. Select the 'Privacy' tab
  4. Click the 'Default' button or slide the bar down to 'Medium'

Mozilla Firefox 2
  1. Go to the 'Tools' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Options' from the list
  3. Select the 'Privacy' tab
  4. Make sure 'Accept cookies from sites' is checked under the 'Cookies' section
  5. Click on 'Exceptions' and make sure vw.co.uk or volkswagen.co.uk are not in the list
  6. If they are select them and select 'Allow' and press 'Close'
  7. Click 'OK'
  8. Refresh the page
Apple Safari 2
  1. Go to the 'Edit' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Preferences' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Under the 'Accept cookies' section make sure 'Only from sites you navigate to' is chosen
  5. Click the 'X' to close the window
  6. Refresh the page
Apple Safari 3
  1. Go to the 'Edit' menu at the top of the browser
  2. Choose 'Preferences' from the list
  3. Select the 'Security' tab
  4. Under the 'Accept cookies' section make sure 'Only from sites you navigate to' is chosen
  5. Click the 'X' to close the window
  6. Refresh the page
